How to Choose the Best International Health Insurance?

The reasons for living abroad varies among people. Still, good health care is important for everyone no matter where you are located. By purchasing international health insurance, you can choose where and by whom you want to be treated. Precautions, medications or vaccinations are standard services with good insurance protection. International health insurance applies from the outset for an unlimited period. With travel insurance abroad, the duration of coverage is often short-term and is not suitable for expatriates who plan to live and work abroad. Furthermore, travel insurance might be extend once with approval of the insurer in advance and has to be signed before leaving.

Why health insurance is mandatory?

You never know what is coming. Especially in countries with a lack of hygienic conditions and common infectious diseases such as dengue fever or malaria expose you to a higher health risk. Depending on the country, hospital bills can quickly reach tens of thousands of dollars, which could result in financial ruin without proper health insurance. Since the state of health in many public hospitals abroad may not have the standard that expats are used to in their home country; many prefer to visit private hospitals.

International health insurance is extremely important, no matter how long or short it is. However, with all insurance companies, it is important to pay attention to the price but also keep an eye on the services offered. It is particularly important to consider whether you wish the insurance to have, with or without a deductible and whether it includes medical evacuation and repatriation. You must read the general insurance conditions at least once before signing your contract to ensure you understand what you are paying for. Otherwise, ask us or the broker of your choice to thoroughly explain your coverage plan.
